Passions for Collaboration, new Business Development and People Development have underpinned my career. Extensive executive management experience has also grounded me in Corporate Controls and Management Systems.
I attained a Bachelor of Economic Science ( Economics and Statistics) and a Master of Business Administration (University of the Witwatersrand) and also completed an IBM sales certification/mini MBA at the Insead University in France.
Current activities include Coaching and teaching Leadership & Self Development at TSiBA College in Cape Town in a voluntary capacity after leaving IBM at the end of 2015.
Prior to joining IBM, I worked in Market Research and Economic Consulting, and also ran my own business assisting SME start ups . During this period, I also lectured part time in Business Economics.
During my 24 year career with IBM, I held various unit executive reponsibilities in IBM SA and served as the General Manager of IBM Global ( customer) Financing across Middle East and Africa ( MEA) for eight years.
I had a long standing involvement in IBM South Africa Community Relations initiatives and committees; was a member of the IBM SA Diversity Committee and was the first ( elected) Chair of the IBM SA Employment Equity committee .
I served in a voluntary capacity on the Executive Board of the Welgevonden Game Conservation Area, a 50 000 hectare privately run “ Big Five” Game and Nature Reserve in South Africa from 2010 and was a member of the SA Institute of Directors while at IBM. I have also undertaken many external and internal speaking engagements in my own capacity and for IBM, including acting as the IBM SA TV spokesperson for its Smarter Water initiative in 2010 and participated as guest Speaker at International Events such as the Women of Independence Conference in Malaysia in 2011. During the 80’s I served on the executive committee of the Five Freedoms Forum, an anti apartheid movement which brokered the first talks between the ANC and the South African Business Community.
I am married, with two children, and love the outdoors, conservation, gardening, travel, exercise, photography and reading. I contributed some photographs to a book of wildlife and nature photos published by my husband in 2010, in aid of a community outreach project.
